I've heard toothpaste gets rid of acne well, but I'm not sure what brand to use. Does it matter? And specifically is it okay to use Crest?Does Crest toothpaste work for clearing up acne?
It sometimes does. It just depends on the pimple. Be sure to only dab a little bit of the white minty kind on the pimple - never use it as a mask.
You'd be better off taking one Vitamin E and one Vitamin A before bed each night, and drinking at least 3 tall glasses on water throughout the day (one before bed!). It gets all the crap washed out of your system, and can improve your skin condition. Or dab a bit of peroxide on the pimple, or a mixture of baking soda and water. Cover it with a good foundation - one that has lots of water and doesn't clog pores, and you should be good to go!Does Crest toothpaste work for clearing up acne?
use the thick pastey kind, not the gel.
but last time i broke out i used toothpaste on 2 of the zits and a spot treatment on the other two. they went away in the same amount of time, but i have noticable hyperpigmentation on the spots that i used toothpaste :(
hyperpigmentation is what people usually call acne scars. but it's not really a scar, just a dark spot that stays for a couple months.
What the skin needs is a product that clears pores and kills bacteria, thus preventing hair follicles from clogging and turning into acne. This is what you should be looking for if you want to get rid of those ugly acne.
Before trying any treatment, I suggest you read this informational source that listed the most effective acne treatments available:

Good luck :)
From experience, I don't think you should try it if you have very sensitive skin. For me it didn't clear away my pimples or reduce them, it only added to my problem--redness %26amp; inflamation. If you don't think you will have this problem with your skin, go for it. When I couldn't afford my facial cleanser, I always wiped (gentle--no harsh rubbing) over my acne with alcohol and had good results.

it works for me. i always put some on my pimple before bed and sleep on it, then wash it off in the morning..it doesnt completely clear it up. but it helps
any brand will work - the ';active'; ingredient that dries up the pimples is sodium. Just rub some toothpaste and water between your fingers and apply it to the trouble spots!
