My skin is also not very even toned (a teensy reddish in some places) I have used proactive and acne free and I moisterize daily, drink lots of water, and take vitamins. But it isen't doing much. witch hazel on a cotton ball rub it on your face every night before you go to bed do thenext step once put honey on your face then rub salt on it and rub a lime on it in that exact order about 30 seconds between each leave it on there them on there until you're finished then wipe it off with a hot waschcloth
i'm surprised proactive didn't work it worked so well with my mom another reason for acne is touching your face because of the oils on your hands so don't touch your face or let anyone else touch it. Also maybe your pillow is dirt that also effects acne so change your pillow case often. That's all i know i hope it helps
Hi,
I totally know where you're coming from. I struggled with really, really bad acne about 2 years ago. Intially I tried tetra-cyclin and retin-a. However, my skin got freakishly dry and I started getting a weird rash on my face.
I quickly stopped taking them and tried Proactive. That sure was a waste of money. I finally started showering directly after the gym and found that this helped tremendously. I also tried a free product I got on the net called Beautiful Skin. Believe it or not, it worked way better than the prescription stuff! I only paid $4.95 for shipping for a month supply. I re-ordered and I use it to make sure I don't get back my zits. It also has tea tree oil which feels really good on my skin.
Here's the link if you want to get it, I think it's the best thing I've ever bought for the price $4.95

Good Luck!
I had horrendous acne for a long time, I only have found one thing that could get me 100% clear. What worked so well for me was a dr. gave me doxycycline to take daily. It is a low dose antibiotic that works miracles for bad skin. There are different causes and types of acne, but for most cases, antibiotics are necessary.
I also use Retin-A to get rid of the scars that I have had from previous acne. Sometimes it can be 8months to a year for all of the scarring to go away. What remains thereafter you would have to speak to a dermatologist about.
I have tried proactiv, washes, herbal remedies, tea tree oil etc.. The list goes on and on, but NOTHING worked until I tried to go the antibiotic route.
Good luck
I am struggling with acne too. I have sometimes found this helpful:using swedish bitters topically...It's a natural product. Also for me Avene thermal extreme tolerance products worked well and helped me.
Only use soap with a PH of 5.5 this neutralizes the skin and removes oils with out damaging the skin. If it doesn't state the PH don't buy it.
I struggled with acne for years and I finally found the solution that works for me. We have been fooled, tricked, deceived, and just plain lied to. It's time that someone put a stop to it, and everyone learn the truth!
Those of us who suffer from acne have usually been given 2 choices and neither of them work:
1. Over the counter remedies such as cleansers, creams, ointments, etc. These things have been proven over and over again not to work. Why? It does not address the root cause of the problem.
2. Go see a doctor and or dermatologist. They will generally prescribe prescription drugs which include topicals and or antibiotics. This, too, has been proven over and over again not to work. Why? It does not address the root cause of the problem.
I found a step-by-step program that cured my acne and it has never come back. It is amazing and doesn鈥檛 use any drugs or doctors. The truth is that acne can be cured鈥f we know the secret the doctors and drug companies don鈥檛 want us to know.
There is a great website: http://cure-my-acne.info/3daycure/ that has all the details. I really suggest you check it out and see if it works as well for you as it did for me.
i struggled with mild acne like you are describing. I tried ever thing ever made and most things did not work.
I have had it under control for a couple of year and I did the following:
Use a soap free cleanser like Cetaphil or Purpose and then use a Benzo Peroxide product. Remember, more is not better. It will just irritate the skin and make it look worse. Use a light layer. I also got a low dose antibiotic - minocycline from my doctor. I used it for about 3 months.
After I too was left with some minor scarring. I use vitamin E and over time they have faded. I also use Neutrorgena MicroBrasion and this has even out my skin.
One thing I use for glow - Origins Never a Dull Moment. I use this about 3x week and LOVE IT!
There are some useful tips here.
Before you treat your acne scars, it is imparitive that you get rid of all your acne FIRST. If you start trying to treat the scars before getting rid of all your acne, you will make your condition worse and agitate your skin!
What kind of vitamins are you taking? Taking the wrong vitamins can help from pimples. There is a great article about what vitamins to take here: http://www.theknowguide.com/vitamins-acn鈥?/a>
