Some acne is easily cared for with over the counter remedies. However, long time acne may be a condition such as hormonal imbalances.

Azelaic acid (brand names Azelex, Finevin, Skinoren) is suitable for mild, comedonal acne.

Zinc. Orally administered zinc gluconate has been shown to be effective in the treatment of inflammatory acne, although less so than tetracyclines.

Witch Hazel has also been known to help treat acne suffers because of its astringent properties. What is the best thing to get rid of acne?
To remve acne you can use Myristica Pack of the brand Biotique. You have to apply it twice a week. It can cause some irritation in the beginning but it'll make your acne vanish. I tried it and it worked wonders 4 me !
try acne complex or home remedies:

Try limiting your dairy consumption.

A 2005 Harvard study found a connection:

';Acne Associated with Dairy Intake鈥?br>

A new Harvard study links dairy products to adolescent acne. A group of 47,000 women from the Nurses鈥?Health Study was asked to provide information about several aspects of their diet during high school as well as any incidence of physician-diagnosed severe teenage acne.

Researchers noted a positive association with total milk and skim milk consumption, along with instant breakfast drinks, sherbet, cottage cheese, and cream cheese.

No association was found with several other foods often thought to affect acne, including soda, french fries, chocolate candy, and pizza. The scientists postulate that hormones and bioactive ingredients found in milk may be responsible.';
If you鈥檙e looking for accurate acne information, best to see a dermatologist. Some people believe doctors are predisposed to take the easy way to deal with acne鈥?prescription drugs. But, with many, this simplistic answer may not be the appropriate course of action. Some feel that such prescription drugs just treat the symposium and not the underlying cause. But, a local dermatologist is still your best starting point.

For me personally, I discovered a great informational acne treatment site. Not only is there good information/articles but I got their audio e-book and following it鈥檚 advice can now say that my acne is a thing of the past! Keep in mind, were all different and there are various types of acne, so what works for some may not be totally effective for all.

Bottom line, hang in there, you will get past this! Sincere best wishes and good luck.

Oh, by the way the site that helped me is:

select the topic - pmple/acne/... and go through.
go to a good dermatologist. they'll give you medication specifically for you. you have to be patient though! i used to get breakouts on my forehead so i went to the dermatologist and he gave me some prescriptions and it took about 5 months for the breakouts to go away. it all depends though. just don't get discouraged! i know acouple of friends that use proactiv. it workded really good for some but one of my friends it didn't help much at all. so anyways, i reccomend a dermatologist
you can go to a dermatologist and they can prescribe a pill that you can take daily to clear up and prevent further acne outbreaks... my brother take s the pills and it works very quickly and very well
Anything with Salicylic acid but what I think works well is the St. Ives medicated (it's blue and white)....
If you can see a dermatologist, it's best because you'll get professional advice on your specific acne condition.

A dermatologist told me that the fastest way (besides injection) to get rid of existing acne is oral antibiotics coupled with topical treatments (antibacterial or retinoid). However, oral antibiotics aren't to be taken for a long period of time because it poses serious health risks. It's only a temporary quick fix. For long-term results, you should go with either regular topical treatments (gels, lotions, creams, or toners) or Accutane (a serious drug with serious side effects).

If you can't see a dermatologist and have to purchase something from a drugstore, the key ingredient you want is benzoyl peroxide, which kills the acne bacteria. Some excellent products which contain benzoyl peroxide:

Neutrogena On-the-Spot Acne Treatment

Clearasil Ultra Acne Treatment Cream

Oxy Balance Sensitive Skin Acne Treatment, Vanishing Formula

Oxy Balance Maximum Acne Treatment, Tinted

Clean %26amp; Clear Persa-Gel 10, Maximum Strength

Experiment with lower-percentage benzoyl peroxide products first (read the labels) because they're less irritating to the skin and will cause less redness, burning, dryness, flaking, or peeling.

If you can afford Proactiv, try it. It's the best non-prescription combination therapy I've ever seen because:

1. The cleanser manually exfoliates the skin with its gentle beads without irritating ingredients.

2. The toner is an AHA (glycolic acid in this case) solution that has the right PH range and doesn't contain other irritating ingredients. It further exfoliates the skin. The texture of this solution feels clean and refreshing.

3. The ';repairing lotion'; is a 2.5% benzoyl peroxide solution that is in the right PH range and doesn't contain other irritating ingredients. This ingredient kills the bacteria that causes acne. The texture of Proactiv's lotion is one of the best. It blends easily, stays on well, and is not too think.

Combining all 3 elements, Proactiv is an extremely effective package. The only drawback is that it is really expensive.

some people swear by proactiv. i have been using it for two months and although it doesn't completely clear up my acne for good, it helps reduce the severity of my breakouts. there is a generic brand that you can buy at the drugstore called acnefree. good luck.
